The Business IT Guide is a free online tool developed to increase awareness and understanding of the potential of ICT.
According to e-skills UK, start-ups may not be aware of the advantages new technologies can bring to their business. e-skills UK, the sector skills council of IT and telecoms, developed the Business IT Guide after research found the UK economy could make an extra £35bn in the next seven years if small firms make better use of ICT.
Karen Price, chief executive of e-skills UK, says a good understanding of technology is essential for small business owners. “Technology can transform a small business. It has the power to improve efficiency, open up new markets and enhance customer service.”
However, she adds, many small firms don’t know where to start. “They can get lost in all the jargon and worry about resource and skills implications and what the business will do if the technology doesn’t work properly,” she says.
The Business IT Guide addresses these issues with hundreds of articles, tips, guides and blogs to help small businesses understand the benefits of IT in ‘non-technical terms’.
“It provides small companies with a user-friendly, accessible tool that enables them to make the most of technology for business success,” says Price.
