Want a career refresh? British and International Franchise Exhibition returns this month

With news that the franchise industry is currently worth an estimated £15.1bn to the UK economy, London’s largest annual international franchise exhibition is returning this month to help aspiring entrepreneurs start a business in franchising.

Accredited by the British Franchise Association (bfa), the British and International Franchise Exhibition will take place at London’s Olympia on January 20 and January 21 and will give attendees the chance to gain free advice from industry experts.

More over, prospective franchisees will be able to meet, and explore opportunities, with over 100 franchise brands such as Rush Hair and Beauty, Gautier, McDonald’s, Anytime Fitness, Subway, and Creation Station.

The exhibition will also play host to the Growing Your Own Business Conference – covering topics such as marketing and finance – involving a range of seminars with keynote speakers including 2015 The Apprentice winner Joseph Valente, and HonestBrew founder Andrew Reeves.

The organisers of the event, Venture Marketing Group, have suggested that there has never been a better time to become a franchisee with claims that there are now over 44,000 franchises, employing some 621,000 employees, making Britain “one of the key world-players in franchising”.

Pip Wilkins, CEO of the bfa, predicts big things for franchising in the UK:

“We expect to see the franchising sector continue grow as more and more people look into running their own businesses. Franchising as a model to expand an existing business is something that has been successfully deployed in the UK by many brands.

“The model’s structure of a local business owner, combined with the proven system, franchisor support, the brand and economies of scale from the network as a whole is a powerful mix.”

Venture Marketing Group’s franchise sales director, Adrian Goodsell, added:

“Franchising replicates a successful and proven business model and brand, using the investment and skills of new individual business owners, who will be trained and supported to run their business under the contract, conditions and proven format that have been agreed.
