Tell us what your business does:

We’re an app for dry cleaning services. We currently partner with over 400 dry cleaner shops across London and cover all post codes.

With just the click of a few buttons, users can choose a time and place to have their dry cleaning picked up and dropped off at no extra cost to what the drycleaner charges. We also cover shoe repair and alteration.

Where did the idea for your business come from?

Londoners are notoriously busy and very often have to do long hours, I know how inconvenient it is not to be able to go to your dry cleaner to bring in or pick up your clothes. And with so many services going ‘on-demand’, my business idea just made sense.

How did you know there was a market for it?

After this idea was born, I started doing research and although there were a few dry cleaning mobile apps on the market, none of them were offering users a choice. You would have to stick to one price tag and one dry cleaner.

There was clearly a gap in the market for a service that allowed you to choose the best rated dry cleaner at the best price.  Also the other apps don’t offer shoe repair, alteration and key cutting services like we do.

What were you doing before starting up?

I come from a financial background and have had a successful career in property and banking consultancy.

Have you always wanted to run your own business?

Although I enjoyed working in financial industry, I have always wanted to build my own business and the idea for Click Dryclean came about when I realised I couldn’t achieve something unless I started it.

How did you raise the money?

We have not raised any money to date so I have personally financed the start-up. But this is something we may consider down the line in order to grow.

Describe your business model and how you make money:

It’s very simple, we connect the user with dry cleaning shops. We take small commission per order placed via our app. There is absolutely no hidden cost for the user or dry cleaner.

What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?

Having your own business is not easy and we have faced a lot of challenges – from developing a top notch app to finding ways to bring innovation to the dry cleaning industry.

What was your first big breakthrough?

The biggest turning point for us was when big dry cleaning companies started to join the project before the launch. They believed in the concept and supported us with their industry expertise, which really helped us to build a great user experience.

What advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?

Don’t let failures and difficulties disencourage or demotivate you – it’s just part of the game. Be realistic about the costs and don’t underestimate them. Also stay focused on your goals.

Where do you want to be in five years’ time

Our goals are to start expanding into other cities in the UK and to constantly work at improving our users’ experience. Everyday we strive to be the best.
