About the Awards

Honouring the UK’s fastest growing businesses. And the people running them.

The Fast Growth Business Awards for 2011 took place at the London Marriott, Grosvenor Square on October 4 and attracted some of the UK’s most dynamic entrepreneurs. The awards are organised by Growing Business, the UK’s leading website for entrepreneurs running fast-growth companies, and showcased the UK’s most cutting edge businesses.

The black tie event provided guests with the invaluable opportunity to mix and mingle with more than 200 entrepreneurs, business journalists and industry leaders.

The finalists were judged by a 14-strong panel of successful entrepreneurs and business experts. Entrepreneurs included: Richard Reed, co-founder of Innocent Drinks; Maximuscle founder Zef Eisenberg; Shortlist Media’s Mike Soutar; Gu Puds’ founder James Averdieck; Addison Lee founder John Griffin; and Rosemary Forsyth of Forsyth Group. Experts included: Christopher Curry of Piper Private Equity; Alex Macpherson, head of ventures at Octopus Investments; Guy Rigby, head of entrepreneurial division at Smith & Williamson; and Greg Jones, NatWest Bank’s managing director for of the commercial team for London and the South East.

In previous years judges have included: Julie Meyer, founder of Ariadne Capital; Alastair Stewart, managing director, etc venues; Dragons’ Den’s Peter Jones; former (RED) CEO Seb Bishop; ex-Dragon and Hamilton Bradshaw Private Equity owner James Caan; and former winner Will King, founder of King of Shaves.
