Advice needed please!!!!
Hi all. I have been in sales for the past 6 years and have an excellent record in both sales and managment. I have always wanted to start my own business but never really gone any further than writing it down or thinking about. 2 weeks ago I lost my job and now is the time for me to take te jump and go for it. I believe I have everything to make it work but have no experience or knowledge on the basics of starting. There are a few Ideas I have but some involve money which I do not have. So to start and get some experience of business etc I would like to offer telemarketing services to business around the UK. I would start from home to begin and see how it goes. My questons are: Do i charge per/hour? I understand the risks of bad debt etc, so if i were to make calls and the customer was not to pay me, one i have lost time and the other have to foot the telephone bill. Could i charge a subscription fee to cover myself? I would be very grateful for ay help or advice. this is something I am ready to do staright away so please get in touch. Firstly, I would recommend purchasing a Licence for either Credit Safe or Risk Disk. These are cheap investements i.e. £150 ish per year. This software will allow you to look at the Financial Positions and Credit Ratings, meaning that you can approach each customer differently with regards to upfront payments or credit terms.
This ultimately reduces your risk of bad debt.

I think you should not go to do it by phone. Just tell everyone to buy your services or products. You have to make goals about your sales each day. Once you make the goal, you’ll achieve it. It literally works. For that you have to set the goals.
