Business name & Brand problems..

Hi guys first post on here and I’m in the initial planning stage of my start-up.
I’ve created what I think is a great name for a clothing label, the name isn’t trademarked at all in the clothing sector or any of the the other sectors.. which is great!
However the name is registered by a limited company with the companies house.
Now I’m not seeking legal advice on a forum but just someone who is familiar with this stuff. I’ve got another company name I’m happy with but how would I then register the clothing label name as a trademark if it doesn’t match the company name? Do I trademark both?! Can I get away with just the clothing brand being trademarked as I believe my company name won’t be saught after?
My clothing label’s name for example could be john smith which is taken in companies house right, so if I registered as john smith apparel but only trademarked the name john smith with my company and label be protected?
Thanks in advance

The trade name doesn’t have to be the same as the company name otherwise car manufacturers would be in trouble with the dozens of trade marked names that each manufacturer owns
