Loading Time & International Websites
Hey guys, Here’s my website: http://www.vubasupplies.co.uk/ I have two major areas of focus right now. Firstly, the website loads way too slow. Any tips? Secondly, we want to create a french / spanish website. We’re on Magento, does anyone have any experience with this? Cheers,
Director of http://www.vubasupplies.co.uk
I personally wouldn’t say that the site is ‘way too slow’, but there is certainly room for improvement…
The site is fairly graphical, which is fine, but a lot of the images are PNG format which adds to the size compared to JPEG. You could try using JPEGs more around the site, this should speed things up a bit. JPEGs can’t do transparency, but of the ones i looked at there was no transparency present, so you should be able to save some space.
Also, Magento can be fairly processor heavy, meaning there will be a slighy slow-down due to the server that is powering the site (your server seems to be coping fairly well though).
Unfortuantely I don’t know anything about Magento and language translations.
To summarise, swap some of the PNG images for JPEGs and you should see the site load quicker!
Hope this helps!
you can translate your content using Google translator to what ever language which supported by Google translate.
here are the solutions for speed up your web site.
use gif images for your site’s images. buy a high speed server.
use simple design.
Basically your front page is huge thats why it takes so long to come up. The total size of your page is 1,562,063 bytes or roughly 1.5 Megabytes. The worse offenders are
wood-panel-bg.gif 111,186 bytes
vuba-contact-bg.jpg 86,670 bytes
Installation_Team2.jpg 83,636 bytes
FloorPaintMain.png 81,603 bytes
NosingMain.png 74,147 bytes
GarageFloorPaintMain.png 71,569 bytes
Those six alone total nearly half a megabyte. In total the images on that page take up nearly 1.4mb of space. you need to review your images to reduce the size of them in bytes and then think about moving some of the stuff off of the front page to reduce its size. If someone has a standard 2mb broadband connection they will be looking at 20 to 30 seconds for the page to load. The boredom threshhold is around 7 to 10 seconds at which point most user hit the back button go back to the search results and click on your competitor.
