SEO Expert | Web Design | Advice NEEDED!
I’ve been working for a company now for over 6 years, doing SEO and Website design. I have attained a number of extrememly difficult first page keyword positions for the company i’m with, and now feel I have an indepth knowledge and formula for SEO, that I can go it alone. Could anyone point me in the right direction for starting out, and where to get work? Would anyone be interested in partnering up with me, selling what I can do? For info on the sites I’ve worked on, send me a message and I will show you. Cheers
If i were you i would firstly start by setting up your own website, and get rankings for the search terms you require. Obviously something like just "seo" is extremely competitive but if you want for a more localised search term like "london seo" for example to get local traffic, and enquiries then move up from there. Probably a bad example as im sure london seo is very competitive still I have had a load of people contact me for them to do my seo however i would not take them seriously if they couldn’t get there own website bringing in traffic and their own customers, after all if they were that good they would have done it to their own site. It may take sometime to get your own site done, ranked etc… just you could use the cushion of your existing job in the meantime.
Start small grow your own portfolio that you can shout about on your own site, rather than relying solely on what you have done for the company you work for. Perhaps even give away the first few sites to get great customer feedback, seo results on the basis that they will spread the word of how good you are.
In my opinion the stumbling blocks you may come across is that seo is a very competitive field with everyone promising the world. I do my own seo, as i wasn’t happy with paying and not getting my desired results. If you can prove your worth though you should have people queueing up its just a case of getting your name and your results out there.

we are in the same sector. I started off by compiling a simple a4 flyer and going into local businesses and selling the benefits of SEO.
The hard part is cold calling and doing face to face work – but if you can get over rejections then you can win business!
Agree with what’s been stated above. If you have a skill use it for your own sites and stop ranking other people’s sites and making them money. In the meantime consider a creating a course. If you really know what you’re doing (it sounds like it) then there are heaps of people that would willing pay you to teach them. With regards to actually doing the SEO for other people’s sites people heavily into it will now normally outsource to countries like the Phillipines where you can employ someone full time for $300 a month. Why not employ and train up your own virtual assistants to go through the steps that you know work and use this to create your network of niche sites? Once you’ve done this you could then even start selling the services your virtual team.
