Got Juice: Mark Hall
Online reputation management
Tell us what your business does:
We provide online reputation management for companies that have negative mentions online that affect sales or that want to increase sales by reviews and positive mentions.
Where did the idea for your business come from?
Through a need to help businesses fight back against unjust and false reviews. Currently it is very easy to destroy someone’s reputation online, and the larger well-known review sites are rarely willing to help the small business owner combat this. But we are.
How did you know there was a market for it?
Reviews and referrals count for over 70% of all sales. The first port of call for information is the internet with over 85% of consumers searching for reviews on a company before they purchase. By having a fantastic reputation and harnessing and promoting good reviews businesses can increase sales, negative reviews and comments however can destroy a business overnight.
What were you doing before starting up?
Working in digital marketing.
Have you always wanted to run your own business?
Yes. The potential to learn, earn money and control your own destiny is far greater than it ever could be working for a company. Unless, of course, you work for us, then we pass on those values.
How did you raise the money?
No funding was required; this is a knowledge based business built on a combination of experience, law, SEO, blood, sweat and tears.
What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
Unfortunately we do have to deal with people who actually deserve bad reputations, we are great at spotting them now, but at the start we had quite a few unpaid invoices and unprofessional behaviour. The majority of our clients though suffer from false claims made by competitors, ex-employees or even ex partners! Or, they’re businesses who simply want to show the world how good they are.
How much do you charge?
Prices start from just £699.
What was your first big breakthrough?
We suggested a course of action to a client that was picked up by NBC which resulted in a lot of positive press for them.
What advice would you give to budding entrepreneurs?
Those hours you spend in front of the TV are wasted, get off your backside and get planning, working and creating your future.
Where do you want to be in five years’ time?
My day’s so hectic I can’t even plan a holiday, never mind 5 years’ time!
