blow raises £500,000 to roll out beauty on-demand services

Latest funding from Unilever Ventures will see the London start-up expand across the UK

blow LTD, an on-demand provider of beauty services, has received £500,000 in funding from Unilever Ventures.

Launched by Dharmash Mistry and Fiona McIntosh – former editor of Grazia and Elle – in November 2013, blow offers blow-dries, make-up consultations, and manicure services to customers’ homes, offices or hotels within London’s sones one, two and three and operates beauty bars in Covent Garden and Canary Wharf.

The company, which also offers a range of over 1,000 beauty products in store, online or through its app, claims to have completed more than 70,000 services to date.

Alongside an ongoing crowdfunding campaign, the start-up intends to use the investment to expand its beauty on-demand services outside of London to other areas of the UK.

Mistry and McIntosh said: “We are delighted to bring on board the Unilever Ventures team to help us scale our vision for beauty services on demand and create the next distribution channel for products in the UK and beyond.”

Stephen Willson, investment director at Unilever Ventures, added: “Mistry and McIntosh are reinventing the service experience and ultimately creating a new route for product distribution. We are excited to partner with them and provide access to Unilever’s assets, ecosystem and expertise.”
