Springboard launches accelerator programme targeted at the Internet of Things

10 teams to receive £100,000 worth of support during three month programme

London and Cambridge-based accelerator programme Springboard has launched a bootcamp for start-ups focused on the Internet of Things.

The three month programme named Springboard IoT is set to offer 10 teams around £100,000 worth of free services from more than 100 industry leaders.

Application for the programme is open until January 6 to start-ups of all stages focused on the development of smart internet-enabled devices. The successful applicants will begin the intensive bootcamp in March, concluding with a pitch to venture capitalists and investors.

The scheme, which is based in ideaSpace at the University of Cambridge, is backed by partners including Unilever, and Startups 100 tech company Raspberry Pi, who will provide support to participants of the scheme.

The new scheme, which Springboard claims to be the world’s first accelerator bootcamp programme for the Internet of Things, follows on from Springboard’s London-based programmes, which target web and mobile start-ups.

Jeremy Bassett, director of new businesses unit at Unilever, commented: “We’re always looking for new ways to help entrepreneurs grow their business and Springboard IoT provides a great platform for them to get the advice and tools needed to build great products and services.”
