Founder: Debbie Reynolds
Website: www.schoolofsignlanguage.com

Debbie set up School of Sign Language in 2006. Hearing impaired herself, Debbie says she recognises the barriers and discrimination faced by deaf people and wants to make British Sign Language (BSL) courses more affordable. Debbie says signing has benefitted her two daughters. “They used sign language before they could even talk, and it has improved my six-year-old daughter’s literacy at school.”

The School of Sign Language is heavily involved in a campaign to get BSL legally recognised by the government, and won silver at the Barclays Trading Places Awards in October.
