Startups 100 2017: Entries now open!

Now's your chance to follow in the footsteps of Zoopla, Hello Fresh and YPlan as entries open for the annual index of the UK’s top new businesses...

The Startups 100 2017 index is now open for applications from the UK’s high-potential early-stage businesses.

Running for its eighth year, the Startups 100 is the definitive ranking of the top 100 most inspirational and disruptive start-ups launched in the UK in the last three years.

The longest running index of its kind, the Startups 100 has identified and championed a number of successful businesses which have gone on to become stellar brands, and some even household names, including Hello Fresh, Notonthehighstreet.com, and Purplebricks.

In the 2016 Startups 100 index – which was shortlisted for editorial campaign of the year at the British Media Awards – peer-to-peer property lender LendInvest took the top spot, followed by employee benefits business Perkbox and HECK – the family-run sausage brand with multi-million pound revenues.

186 of the UK’s brightest entrepreneurs were represented in last year’s index, having started and scaled new businesses with an average turnover of £1.1m and 19 employees.

Sponsored by AXA Business Insurance, the Startups 100 2017 index will build on last year’s success to celebrate the next big names in business.

What’s more Startups.co.uk and AXA will this year, for the first time ever, host an exclusive networking event for the founders of the 100 companies ranked in the index.

To be eligible for the Startups 100, your business must have started trading on or after 1 January 2014, be privately owned and UK-based.

On the opening of entries for the Startups 100 2017, Darrell Sansom, managing director of AXA Business Insurance, said:

“Sponsoring this year’s Startups 100 Index is really exciting. If you’ve started a business in the past three years, you’re part of a true revolution in this country.

“Over this period, we’ve seen an explosive growth in start-ups, and these new entrepreneurs are rather different from what has gone before. The stage is set, so enter your inspirational small business. We’re ready to be inspired!”

Entries for the Startups 100 2017 will close on March 24 2017. Think you’ve got what it takes? Apply here.
