Judges felt SportStars was a topical, community-embracing business that embodied everything that a great start-up should be in 2007. Founder James Taylor’s business provides safe, affordable childcare and coaching to children via schools and a network of out-of-school activities and clubs, bringing together pupils, teachers and parents. Taylor has developed a scaleable highly profitable business model crucially proving community-focussed enterprise can work to benefit all. The judges felt Sports Stars is a worthy winner and Taylor a great role model, not just for his local community but as a start-up entrepreneur.
