App of the Year

The AppyParking story:

AppyParking is on a mission to “take all of the guesswork out of parking” and save drivers stress, time and money; a mission which has seen Virgin mogul Sir Richard Branson lend his support.

Founded in 2013 by Dan Hubert, AppyParking allows you to make informed choices about parking before you arrive.

This means the app is able to show you where and when free parking is available, where to find paid meter bays and off street car parks, and even where it’s ok to park on single yellow lines. It also offers a satellite navigation service which will direct you to your chosen destination and a car locator function in case you forget where you parked.

Capitalising on the view that parking in the capital is a “complete nightmare”, Hubert – named one of the UK’s “mover and shakers” by GQ – has rapidly gained traction and key industry players, serial entrepreneurs and local councils have taken note.

The business recently partnered with Ford after winning the Ford Congestion Challenge and announced a deal with Vodafone Xone to trial the world’s first one click parking app with Westminster Council.

Impressively, AppyParking also won People’s Champion at this year’s Virgin ‘Pitch To Rich’; a national start-up competition backed by Branson and names such as Jo Malone MBE. Having grabbed one People’s Champion title, can it bag another?

Why AppyParking made our 60:

Parking in city centres is often frustrating but AppyParking’s solution helps to alleviate the problems and its range of different options means you can use the app for just about any parking query. Support from top names evidences AppyParking’s potential to be big.
