Start-up name: Lime Lace
Founder: Samantha King, 35
Started in: 2012
Based in: Harrogate
Business description: Online store selling home accessories and gifts

LIMELACE-logoThe Lime Lace story:

Initially launched as an independent home and gift shop, mumpreneur Samantha King made the decision to launch an e-commerce site – a one-stop market place for designer furniture, home accessories, jewellery and art. After realising the success of the online business, King decided to close the bricks-and-mortar store in June 2014 and her decision has paid off.

Now with a customer base which spans retail consumers, commercial and residential interior designers and rising profits, the Harrogate-based “interiors company  has steadily grown its offering with a mix of quirky gifts such as a ‘non conformist’ gnome to pendant lights made from recycled cardboard:

“Lime Lace was born to address the lack of individualism which has emerged in recent years through the high street chains. Whether you’re a fan of minimalist chic, a follower of funky retro style or a traditionalist who loves their home comforts, we’re certain you’ll find some great products to tempt you.”

The start-up has also become a successful seller on Notonthehighstreet.com – selling with them since October 2012 and has amassed over 5,000 Twitter and Facebook followers; impressive given that all of its PR and marketing is conducted in house.

Why Lime Lace made our 50:

A home-based business which has managed to successfully make its mark in the online space, Lime Lace is a start-up on the up with its eclectic product range sure to maintain steady customer demand.
