Organised by Startups.co.uk, the awards recognise the triumphs of the UK’s newest businesses, with previous winners including the Cambridge Satchel Company, Wonga.com and Glasses Direct.
This year, Julie Deane, co-founder of the Cambridge Satchel Company (the 2011 NatWest Startups Business of the Year) will sit on the judging panel, joining the likes of Ariadne Capital founder Julie Meyer MBE; Stylus CEO and founder Marc Worth; Startups columnist and Blottr founder Adam Baker; James Hurley, enterprise editor of The Telegraph; and BBC journalist Kate Russell.
Abram Tilling, regional managing director from headline sponsor NatWest will also join the powerful line-up, along with other sponsor representatives including Nick Green of Printed.com and Howard Graham of The Made Simple Group.
Judges will have their work cut out for them with 13 awards to be granted, including prizes for two new categories, Trade Business of the Year and Freelance Business of the Year. The overall winner will be named NatWest Startups Business of the Year 2012.
David Lester, founder of Startups.co.uk, is pleased with the final judging line-up: “The quality of the business people on this year’s awards judging panel is outstanding and highlights the credibility of the scheme.
