Ultimo founder Michelle Mone backing new small biz competition
£10,000 up for grabs for innovative entrepreneurs
Michelle Mone OBE, the founder of lingerie giant Ultimo, is fronting a new competition which offers a £10,000 cash prize for ambitious entrepreneurs.
Mone is working in tandem with Capital One and the Daily Mirror to launch the competition, which is designed to find inspirational small businesses with a wider relevance.
To enter the competition, entrepreneurs must demonstrate, in 300 words or less, how their business has improved the daily lives of its customers and enhanced the wider community.
As well as the £10,000 overall prize, the winner will receive a range of discounts from Capital One, and have the chance to take a mentoring lunch with Mone.
Discussing the scope and requirements of the competition, Mone said: “I turn down a lot of partnership offers, but I was really keen to do this. £10,000 can mean a lot to both a start-up and a growing business. The PR they will get from it is fantastic, and I’m looking forward to mentoring the winner over lunch.
“Applicants can run any type of business, from hair and beauty salons to mechanic shops. They’ve just got to show they have a great business idea, and a real proposition”.
The competition opens for applications on April 11. Visit the Daily Mirror website for more information.
