‘Tell us what you want and we’ll create you a better, unique price’. It’s the promise ecommerce marketplace Flubit makes to its customers. Users provide the URL for a product they’re looking to buy– it has to be on Amazon – and Flubit works with its 200 merchant traders to create a better offer. Based in London’s Tech City and started with £50,000 of seed capital by Bertie Stephens, Flubit’s platform has delivered average savings of 10-15% on prices users are able to find elsewhere in return for commission on each sale. Such has been its progress since launch in September 2012 that private investors committed an impressive £2.8m and the company won the 2013 European Startup Award at the Web Summit (something like the Cannes Film Festival for tech companies). With 25 employees now on board Flubit is looking to boost the number of relationships with online traders to more than 400 and has a partnership with price comparison toolbar Invisible Hand. The company was named as a Startups Top 20 business last year and has made the Startups 100 2013.
