Taxi app Hailo, co-founded by 2012 Young Gun Jay Bregman, has forged a partnership with cloud-based restaurant reservation service Bookatable to enable restaurateurs to offer an on demand taxi service to diners.

By integrating Bookatable’s database of global restaurants with Hailo’s 15,000 strong fleet, London’s diners will be able to book a taxi at the push of a button. The first stage of integration will see the rollout to high end restaurants, with a further 1,500 expected to go live by the end of the summer.

Launched in 2011, Hailo allows users to virtually hail a taxi on their smartphone and help drivers maximize the number of fares they can get in one shift. The app has grown rapidly in recent years and is now available in 10 cities around the world. Co-founder Bregman exited the company in 2014 to focus on “new business pursuits”.

Jon Moore, chief product officer at Hailo, commented: “We’re really delighted to partner with Bookatable to create this additional layer of service quality for restaurants and their customers.

“Integrating our API with market-leading service providers like Bookatable helps to extend the great Hailo experience to a highly relevant audience in a context where getting a safe, fast and reliable journey home really matters.”
