A massage can be just the thing to take the edge off after a hard day, but it’s not easy to find a qualified therapist where and when you want. Step up Urban Massage, the online platform founded by Young Guns to watch and Forbes 30 under 30 listees Jack Tang and Giles Williams that enables you to arrange for a qualified and fully vetted masseuse to come to your home office or hotel within an hour.

Launched in 2014, the Startups 100-listed service puts massage at its users’ fingertips while allowing its massage therapist partners to control their working lives, with the ability to upload their availability and confirm or extend an appointment within the app. It also includes a built-in GPS tracker to assist therapist partners to be punctual and get to their appointments on time. Today, Urban Massage is growing at a rate of 60%, catering for 80,000 customers across London, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Glasgow and soon in Paris. They currently work with more than 500 therapists.

The company has big ambitions for 2016 and beyond, planning to launch in four international cities by December and expecting to have over 250,000 customers across Europe by mid-2017. Perhaps a harbinger of future success, in November last year Urban Massage was one of 58 start-ups chosen to join Sherry Coutu’s ‘Scale Up Club’ – a list of UK start-ups with the potential to reach £100m turnover in the next three to five years.
