Having appeared in the Startups 100 not one, not two but three times and as a finalist for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the 2014 Startups Awards, it was only a matter of time before Jonathon Brown and James Blackburn were recognised as Growing Business Young Guns.

Founded alongside Ian Oxley in 2012, GPS Locums supplies locum doctors and nurses to both the NHS and private sector across a range of specialities and the whole of the UK. The company’s success lies in its customer service. To employers it offers a fully managed service and database of thousands of locums, screening every candidate rigorously to check they have the requisite qualifications and skills. For healthcare professionals it offers strong working relationships with some of the top institutions and specialist departments across the UK, helping them to access “exclusive and exciting” career opportunities.

Still 100% owned by the founders, GPS Locums hit impressive revenues of £12m last year, which it expects to increase to £15m in the next 12 months. It seems its overall target of £40m turnover and becoming one of the top five suppliers of medical professionals to the NHS and private sector isn’t so far out of reach.
