Multichannel retail management system Brightpearl, founded by Young Guns Chris Tanner and Andrew Mulvenna, has announced a collaboration with global e-commerce company Alibaba.

Founded in 2007, the Bristol-based firm helps small retailers compete with larger rivals by enabling them to sell via multiple online channels as well as their own bricks-and-mortar stores. It claims to have a 1,300 strong customer base with over $2.5bn worth of merchandise traded through its platform to date.

The partnership sees the launch of Brightpearls' new app which will enable merchants to source products through Alibaba’s list of suppliers within the Brightpearl platform. Users can also create products from the wholesaler’s listings, with more features to enhance functionality scheduled for release over the coming months.

Brightpearl's product manager, Scott Hill, commented:

“By teaming up with Alibaba.com, we’re able to better support our merchants. The system not only allows them to view and search for products directly within Brightpearl, it also automatically enters data such as product name and supplier information, eliminating the need for rekeying.”
