2014 Startups 100 open for entries

Exciting and innovative start-ups offered chance to join illustrious list of UK’s best and brightest new companies

The annual index of the UK’s 100 most impressive, creative and pioneering new businesses has opened applications for entrepreneurs to apply for the 2014 list.

Launched in 2008, the Startups 100 is the definitive countdown of the country’s top start-ups which demonstrate considerable success or show a strong likelihood of becoming a fast-growth company.

Over the last six years, it has celebrated some of Britain’s biggest entrepreneurial success stories with former alumni having gone on to become household names such as Zoopla.co.uk, Naked Wines and Wonga.com.

This year’s list intends to follow on from the achievements of previous winners and build upon the 2013 Startups 100 which has seen several member companies, including Mainstage Travel, Spearhead Interactive, and overall winner myParcelDelivery.com, enjoy rapid growth.

To be considered for the index, businesses must be UK-based, privately owned and launched on, or after, January 1 2011, and must be innovative and original in some way.

Applicants will also be judged on growth potential, management, social responsibility and evidence of existing or future revenues.

Lucy Smith, digital content manager for Startups.co.uk, commented:

“The calibre of last year’s entrants was exceptionally high and this year’s crop will need to match that. We’re looking to identify the UK’s most exciting start-up talent; new businesses which inspire us either through innovation or sheer potential for growth.

“We’re confident that we will discover not just some of the big names of the future but industry game-changers.”

Entries for the Startups 100 close on March 31 2014, to download an application form click here.
