Acceleris acquire a PR arm

Venture capital firm Acceleris has bought out the PR agency that handles its communications and marketing materials.

The acquisition of Ram PR, which includes all of the company’s staff, marks a change for the VC, which usually raises funds for early-stage and developmental businesses.

However, on this deal Acceleris are investing its own funds and will use its new PR arm to expand its geographical reach, which is currently largely based in Yorkshire and the North West.

As a result of the deal, the full terms of which have not been disclosed, a new agency will be created entitled Acceleris Marketing Communications.

It will provide a raft of services, including PR, corporate communications, web development, strategic on-line and off-line media planning and buying, digital marketing as well as graphic design and production.

Peter Davenport, a former senior journalist on The Times, will head Acceleris’ PR operations.

Ram has worked in both the public and private sectors and clients include brewers Theakstons and the National Federation of ALMOS, which manage 1m council homes around the country.

Nigel Howes, chairman of Acceleris, said: “There can be no higher endorsement of a PR and Media agency than that one of its clients should buy it.

“We have worked closely with the team at RAM, particularly its PR division, from the run-up to the launch of the new-look Acceleris to the present day and it has proved to be a very successful relationship.

“Not only were we impressed by the quality of advice and level of service we received as a client, but we have also had many positive comments from our own clients complimenting us on the quality of our communications and marketing materials.”

Acceleris was advised on the deal by Lupton Fawcett LLP.
