Crowdfunding platform to support outstanding female founders goes live
Platform founded by Debbie Wosskow and Anna Jones aims to make Britain the “best place in the world to be a female founder”
AllBright, the fund for female entrepreneurs, has announced that its funding platform to “support outstanding female-led companies” is now live after launching in October.
Founded by Love Home Swap founder Debbie Wosskow OBE and CEO of Hearst Magazines UK Anna Jones, AllBright Crowd will help investors discover and back UK female-led businesses and bridge the funding gap between female and male founders.
There are already three female entrepreneurs live on the site and seeking investment, including Catherine Gazzoli of Piccolo, Caroline Plumb of Fluidly and Romanie Thomas of Juggle Jobs.
AllBright has also released research that shows the UK has a higher than average level of female entrepreneurship than European Union countries with similar economies, but a lower level than the US, Australia and Canada – where women are three times as likely as in the UK to be involved in entrepreneurship.
However, crowdfunding campaigns for female-led businesses receive 1.3 more contributors than their male peers and 10.75% more funding.
Wosskow commented: “Female-led crowdfunding is an area that has been under explored to date but the research proves crowdfunding is an attractive opportunity and good bet for both female-led entrepreneurs looking for finance and investors looking for companies to back.”
Jones added: “Our ambition for this year is for AllBright to do everything in its power to ensure that Britain becomes the best place in the world to be a female founder.”
