The online platform making it easier than ever to rent retail space
Founders: Ross Bailey
Launched: February 2013
With a client list which includes the likes of Google, the BBC and Microsoft, and a projected turnover of £1m for year-end 2013, Appear Here is a start-up that’s going places.
The first online marketplace to enable users to find, book and list short-term retail space, the business not only makes it easier than ever to rent shop space but it’s helping to support fellow UK start-ups to launch their ideas.
21-year-old entrepreneur Ross Bailey created the site following a string of successful pop-up shops in key London retail areas such as Covent Garden and Kings Road and was inspired to take his knowledge of the pop-up space to the web.
With a business model which Bailey states initially “many laughed at and said was impossible,” Appear Here has quickly established itself within the property market and recently secured £1m funding from a number of venture capital funds including Howzat Partners, MMC Ventures and Forward Investment Partners as well as some angel investors.
It’s not just investors that have given the property business the vote of confidence, the online marketplace is now working with some of the biggest landlords in the UK and has even secured exclusive agreements with British Land and Legal and General.
