Better Bathrooms clinches additional £4m from the BGF

Edinburgh-based bathroom, lighting and tiles retailer set to generate 100 jobs and £100m in sales by 2018

Better Bathrooms, a Leigh-based bathroom retailer, has raised £4m from the Business Growth Fund (BGF), following an initial £10m investment in July 2013.

Founded by Colin Stevens in 2001, Better Bathrooms sells bathroom, tiles and lighting goods through its showrooms, as well as online and via telephone mail order.

Today, the retailer employs more than 400 people across its 10 nationwide showrooms and claims to be on track to exceed £60m in sales for this financial year – up from £31m in 2013.

Using the investment, Better Bathrooms is aiming to generate 100 jobs nationwide and achieve sales of £100m by 2018.

Stevens commented: “These developments mark an important step for the business as we look to add further scale to the business. […] With additional support from BGF funding, we can work towards strengthening our mission statement – to be better on every level.”

Ben Barker, investor at BGF, added: “Colin has a clear vision for the future growth of Better Bathrooms, and the team has a huge amount of energy for scaling the business. We are happy to be providing the growth capital to support their plans.”
