bfa Franchisor of the Year 2016 winners announced

Three chains have taken the top spot in awards which recognises UK's top franchises for support, ethics and company culture

The winners of the annual British Franchise Association (bfa) Franchisor of the Year Awards have been revealed, with three franchise brands named as the country’s top franchisors.

Selected from hundreds of entries and shortlisted down to seven finalists including McDonald’s and Driver Hire, the 2016 franchisor winners were baby and toddler swimming franchise Water Babies (Gold), domestic care chain Home Instead Senior Care (Silver), and cost management and consultancy chain Expense Reduction Analysts (ERA).

Said to be the biggest accolade in UK franchising, the Franchisor of the Year awards looks to celebrate franchisors that, regardless of size or industry, offer excellent franchisee support, company culture, innovative practices, and show a commitment to franchising ethics.

The awards were judged by a panel of experts, including Stuart Walsh from Franchise Finance and Nicola Broadhurst from Stevens & Bolton, with the winners unveiled at an awards ceremony in Nottingham last night.

Other winners on the night included busylizzy; winner of Emerging Franchisor of the Year, Home Instead; winner of the Franchisee Recruitment Award, McDonald’s; awarded for  innovation, and O2; awarded for customer focus.

bfa CEO, Pip Wilkins, commented: “As judges, we demand substantial evidence of quality, a comprehensive understanding of franchising ethics and proof of consistent franchisee success.

“Our winners have distinguished themselves through their accomplishments and these awards pay testament to their sustained franchising excellence.”
