bfa’s Franchisor of the Year Awards opens for entries

25th anniversary to celebrate UK’s “pioneering” franchisors with six new accolades on offer

The British Franchise Association (bfa) has opened entries for its annual Franchisor of the Year Awards, with six new categories to support “outstanding” individuals in the franchising industry.

Now in its 25th year, the awards, due to be held at Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire on June 26, seeks to recognise the contribution franchisors make to the UK economy through “innovation, entrepreneurialism, and export growth”.

Backed by HSBC and sponsored by Express Newspapers, franchisors from across the UK will be commended for their efforts and business practice with accolades such as Emerging Franchisor of the Year for franchise newcomers and an Innovation Award for franchisors “taking a step in a new direction’.

Franchisors driving international growth will also be recognised through its International Achievement Award, and there is an award for Brand of the Year, as well as a Franchisee Recruitment Award.

The overall award; bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year, will look to reward the ‘most impressive’ franchisor who shows passion and commitment to franchising and supporting franchise networks.

Shortlisted finalists will be invited to a judging panel on May 21-22 where the successful franchisors will be determined.

Brian Smart, director general of the bfa, said: “The awards showcase the country’s most outstanding franchise businesses, regardless of size or sector, championing them amongst their peers.

“The range of franchisors that have been celebrated over the past 25 years demonstrates the diversity found in franchising, and our new categories reflect this growing, vibrant part of the UK economy. The successes highlighted by this year’s awards should encourage others to consider franchising as a viable and effective expansion model for their business.”

Head of franchising at HSBC, Cathryn Hayes, added:

“We are looking forward to hearing about, and celebrating, the exceptional talent that the UK is fostering in franchising at the moment.”

The deadline for entries for the Franchisor of the Year Awards is March 28, to apply click here.
