Booking platform Appointedd bags £595,000 investment

Edinburgh-based start-up has secured investment from Equity Gap and Skyscanner founder Gareth Williams to scale globally

Edinburgh-based Appointedd, an online booking specialist, has closed a £595,000 funding round led by Equity Gap, with involvement from Skyscanner founder Gareth Williams, and Macklin Enterprise Partnerships founder Marie Macklin CBE.

The Scottish Investment Bank, the investment arm of Scottish Enterprise, also participated in the round.

Founded by Leah Hutcheon, Appointedd’s suite of tools incorporates online booking, customer relationship management and marketing to help service-based businesses manage their bookings and appointments.

The company recently signed a deal with National Australia Bank to see its software offered to 700,000 small businesses across Australia.

The investment follows a £160,000 funding round in September 2014 and will be used to help Appointedd expand overseas.

Hutcheon commented: “We have felt extremely honoured to attract investment from the founder of one of Scotland’s unicorn companies and experienced entrepreneurs like Macklin.

“We look forward to using their expertise to help expand our software globally.”

Williams added: “It’s been a pleasure to watch the Appointedd product hone over time and I’m excited to be involved in the next stage of their growth. The software has the potential to be the leader in a huge market.”
