Branson unveils Pitch to Rich finalists

Parking app JustPark and carb alternative Cauli Rice among nine businesses competing to win share of £1m from Virgin mogul

The nine start-ups who will be pitching their ideas to Sir Richard Branson have been announced today, for the final stages of the Virgin Media Pitch to Rich competition.

Competing for a share of a £1m prize fund to grow their businesses, the selected start-ups include Startups 100-listed parking app JustPark and a range of new products and services such as online grocery platform Approved Food, “healthier” rice and bread alternative Cauli Rice, and online learning tool Hegarty Maths.

With over 675,000 votes cast, the chosen start-ups will now present their ideas to Branson and fellow judges Justine Roberts, Jo Malone, David Gandy and Jon Oringer during a live finale at Shoreditch workspace Second Home on June 26.

Selected across three categories ‘Start-Up’, ‘Grow’ and ‘New Things’, the Pitch to Rich finalists are:

  • Fourex
  • The Skunkworks Surfboard Company
  • Sendy
  • Aduna
  • Approved Food
  • JustPark

Semi-finalists not in the final are still competing for the ‘People’s Choice’ award, with public voting open until June 22.

Branson commented: “We set out to find great business ideas with the potential to disrupt a market and judging by the calibre of the finalists, we have found the very best. The people that make a difference are the ones that have the courage to overcome obstacles in order to turn an idea into a successful business.
