Business Growth Fund appoints new head of portfolio

Senior director at private equity firm LDC to play key role in overseeing BGF’s fast-growing investment portfolio

John Swarbrick, senior director of private equity house LDC’s Leeds office has been named as the head of portfolio for Business Growth Fund, completing the scheme’s senior team. Launched in April 2011, the government scheme offers equity investments of £2m to £10m to fast growing businesses with turnovers between £5m and £100m. Swarbrick will be responsible for overseeing the growing portfolio of investments, which includes deals with almost 20 companies to date. He is set to continue his work at LDC on a part-time basis until the end of the year, when he will be exceeded by John Garner, who has been appointed as the new director of the Leeds office. Stephen Welton, chief executive of BGF commented: “We are delighted that John is joining BGF.

“This appointment completes our senior team and as the pace of our new investment activity continues to increase, we will have further resource available to make positive contributions to our investee companies as they grow and flourish.”
