“Career matchmaking” service 10 Minutes With raises $4m

Online service allows graduates to reach out to companies they want to work for directly

A start-up that allows graduates to connect directly with leading executives at major organisations today announced it has raised $4m from a group of private investors, allowing it to set its sights on further global expansion.

Launched in 2013, the 10 Minutes With platform allows companies to educate site visitors about the day-to-day responsibilities of their employees via 10-minute videos and other proprietary content. The platform’s creators said this format allowed students and graduates to gain a better insight into specific roles, and give them information about career paths they had not previously considered.

The platform also offers students and graduates to reach out to companies they want to work for directly. Since launch the platform has amassed more than 100,000 registered students from 1,000 schools worldwide.

10 Minutes With has grown similarly rapidly on the employer side, with corporate partners including ING Group, KONE, Hiscox, Oracle and Telefónica and academic partnerships with 150 institutions including LSE, London Business School, National University of Singapore, HEC Paris, Shanghai University and Trinity College Dublin.

The site generates revenue by signing up business schools and universities and matching their students to the companies they are connected to to boost employment rates. It also generates income from businesses looking to access an extensive pool of talented graduates.

The $4m investment comes from a global consortium of private backers, which 10 Minutes With said included “experienced private equity and venture capital practitioners”.

Having already opened offices in London, Beijing, Singapore and New Delhi, the investment will enable 10 Minutes With to launch in the US by the end of the year.
