Imperial College and Central Working set to launch hub for 400 businesses

New location on Imperial College White City campus will open in May 2017 and has signed up a $1bn low energy emissions tech fund as its first tenant

Imperial College London ThinkSpace and Startups-100-featued Central Working have teamed up to launch a new entrepreneur and technology shared workspace at the university’s White City Campus – a 23-acre research and innovation centre for science, engineering, medicine and business.

Slated to open in May 2017, Central Working White City will have space for more than 400 businesses, who will have access to its wider network, as well as Imperial’s network of researchers, academics and other corporate partners.

The hub has already signed up OGCI Climate Investments, a $1bn fund aiming to support low energy emissions tech, as its first tenant.

James Layfield, founder of Central Working, said: “We’ve always championed the power of collaboration, so we’re delighted to provide a base for this partnership from the world’s biggest energy companies to develop pioneering clean energy technology.

“By bridging the gap between this leading educational institution, the capital’s most exciting growing companies and multinational corporates, we will ensure London remains the global city of choice for innovative business ideas.”
