Supermarket retailer has re-launched search for 'Britain's Next Top Supplier': Winner will be stocked at Ocado and will receive a £20,000 marketing package
Small UK food and drink producers have the opportunity to win a listing on Ocado and a £20,000 marketing package to promote their product with the re-launch of the supermarket’s annual ‘Britain’s Next Top Supplier’ competition.
Running for its third year, the competition is targeted at helping up-and-coming food and drink brands that “need a helping hand and some expert guidance” on how to get in front of a major retailer.
Shortlisted entrants will pitch their products in a Dragons’ Den-style presentation to Ocado buyers and the winning product, or range, will secure a six month listing at Ocado, with the option to extend. The marketing package will also be provided with promotion on Ocado’s website, marketing, and social media channels.
The winning business will follow in the footsteps of previous winners such as beer jelly start-up Manfood, and Hannah Rhodes of Hiver Beer; sales of her beer range grew five times faster than the rest of Ocado’s beer category in 2016.
Ocado chairman, Stuart Rose commented: “Britain’s Next Top Supplier aims to uncover the latest and greatest food or drink innovations the country has to offer.
“There are some truly fantastic producers in the UK and this competition could change their lives overnight, as winning would give even the smallest business the opportunity to distribute their product to Ocado customers across the nation.”
