Cisco BIG Awards 2013 finalists announced
Six UK businesses in line for prestigious tech award
Global IT firm Cisco today announced the six finalists in line for its 2013 British Innovation Gateway (BIG) award.
The competition, which is now in its second year, aims to recognise and reward the most innovative tech firms in the UK with a package of funding and support.
The winner will be announced at an event held on the 14th November at Cisco’s IDEALondon base in Tech City, in which the finalists will pitch their ideas to the judges for the last time.
Each finalist will present a verbal and video pitch, following which they will be subject to rigorous questioning from the judges in attendance.
This year’s judging panel includes Jenny Griffiths, founder of Startups 100 2013 company and last year’s winner Snap Fashion, as well as other leading figures within the tech industry.
The six finalists are:
- Presence Aware Tech – site visitor analytics tool
- Whisk.com – smart grocery list creator
- Actual Experience – digital supply-chain management
- uMotif – health self-management app
- BleepBleeps – innovative pregnancy tracker app
- SupaDupa – automated online store creator
The BIG award winner will receive a package of support worth $200,000, which includes 12 months of mentoring and support from Cisco and affiliates and assistances with PR, marketing, HR and legal issues.
Runners-up and semi-finalists will also be rewarded with cash and technology prizes to assist the development of their businesses.
