Cleaning marketplace Hassle.com closes $6m Series A funding from Accel Partners

Startups 100-listed cleaning platform keen to expand across UK and Europe

Online marketplace Hassle.com, featured in the Startups 100 2013, has announced today that it has raised $6m Series A investment from venture and growth equity firm Accel Partners

A graduate of UK accelerator programme Tech Stars London, Hassle.com helps connect people with local, trusted cleaners; enabling users to find, book and pay for a cleaner online.

Customers type in their postcode and can then browse through cleaner profiles and customer reviews before shortlisting the cleaner which “best suits their needs”.

Said to be “disrupting the cleaning services market” since its launch in June 2012, the London-based site will use the funding to roll-out their offering in major cities across the UK and Europe.

Explaining Hassle.com’s offering, co-founder and CEO Alex Depledge, said: “We connect people who love cleaning with people who don’t have time to do it.

“We don’t offer people a ‘standard clean’ as traditional agencies do as we recognise city goers are particular about their homes and have all manner of cleaning quirks. Our platform is geared so that our cleaners’ profiles can easily showcase their expertise making it easy for our customers to find their perfect match.”

Philippe Botteri, partner at Accel Partners, commented:

“We have been very impressed by the strength of the founding team and their passion for building a simple and exciting service for both cleaners and consumers. The momentum since launch has been staggering and we are very excited to support Hassle’s fast expansion across the UK and Europe.”
