Deadline nearing for entries for the Startups Awards 2014
Innovative start-ups trading for less than three years have until September 12 to apply for prestigious awards accolade
Exciting and innovative new businesses have until Friday September 12 to apply for the coveted Startups Awards 2014; the leading awards ceremony which looks to celebrate the UK’s most outstanding start-ups launched in the last three years.
Now in its 11th year, the awards has gained a track record for unearthing the country’s fastest rising companies and boasts previous winners such as Secret Escapes, The Cambridge Satchel Company, and BeatThatQuote.com which sold to Google for £37.7m.
This year’s event, sponsored by Simply Business, is already shaping up to be the most “eagerly-awaited” of its history with 15 awards categories on offer and two new categories for 2014 – Independent Shop of the Year and Restaurant of the Year.
The overall prize; the Simply Business Startups Business of the Year, will be awarded to the most impressive winner from the other categories, with an additional People’s Champion award which will go to one of 50 companies that make the long list.
The awards will be judged by 21 leading entrepreneurs, media experts and former winners including Mumsnet founder Justine Roberts, angel investor Dale Murray CBE, Seven Hills and StartUp Britain co-founder Michael Hayman MBE, restaurant mogul Iqbal Wahhab OBE FRSA, and Crowdcube co-founder Luke Lang.
Winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony which will take place on Thursday 27 at London’s Kensington Roof Gardens.
Startups.co.uk founder, David Lester, commented: “With only two weeks to go until entries close now is the time for businesses to act.
“If you are proud of what your business has achieved then take a look – there are a wide variety of categories and the recognition gained from just taking part, let alone winning, is so valuable. We aim to make this year’s Awards night the best yet and already the standard of entries is very high. So my advice to anyone thinking of entering is to do so as soon as possible.”
Jasper Martens, Simply Business head of marketing and communications, added:
“There is simply no better celebration of business achievement in the UK right now than these awards, so with only two weeks to go it’s time to take the plunge. Some of the country’s greatest business brains are on our judging panel and the awards bring real prestige – as well as a fantastic opportunity to network with the most exciting young businesses in the UK.”
