Charlie Mullins OBE
Having scaled Pimlico Plumbers to £20m + revenues with an annual salary of almost £500,000, the famous business mogul is a good bet for the next Dragons' Den investor...
At 62, Charlie Mullins has the background and experience required of Den investors. Having launched Pimlico Plumbers in 1979 after leaving school at 15 with no qualifications, Mullins has scaled the brand to become the UK’s largest independent plumbers and services company with turnover of £20m (2014) and growing. Recently awarded an OBE for his services to plumbing, Mullins has also become a popular face in media with a national campaign to support apprentices that has attracted government attention – he’s even got a business book coming out later this year.
In October 2014 Mullins was quoted as saying that rival BBC show the Apprentice was nonsensical: “you’ve got a load of halfwits running around London trying to please a Lord. Most of them I wouldn’t put in charge of a broom” – making the Den an obvious alternative.
