Drain Doctor franchise accelerates growth just one year after launching

Oxford and Banbury franchisee’s Jon and Lisa Parker take on new recruit to expand business

Husband and wife team Jon and Lisa Parker have expanded their Oxford and Banbury franchise of Drain Doctor Plumbing and Drainage Ltd after just one year, employing a new recruit.

The franchise which began with just one employee and two vans, has employed a City and Guilds trained technician, Steve Goodwin, to further its ability to offer expert plumbing and drainage services.

The recruitment follows the couple’s aim to increase business growth within the next six months.

Established in 1993, Drain Doctor has become the country’s premier combined emergency plumbing and drain repair service and has a nationwide franchise network.

For £35,000, the chain has nine available sites within the UK for potential new franchisees, including locations in South East London and Bath.

The Parkers became franchisees for Drain Doctor as they felt the franchise was well suited to Jon’s skill set and had potential opportunities for expansion.

One year on, Jon is no longer working as the sole technician for his company but is instead now involved in marketing the business.

Commenting on being a franchisee for the plumbing firm, Jon said:

“I can still be an independent operator running my own business but with all the back-up that comes with being part of a large national organisation.

“Drain Doctor offers great contacts with insurance companies and has a national account network that is helping me to develop and grow the business.”
