Driver Hire opens 100th office

Long-running transport staff supplier celebrates boom in franchise recruitment activity

Transport and logistics recruiter Driver Hire celebrated opening its 100th office this week, marking further expansion for its successful franchise model. The milestone marks a boom in franchisee recruitment activity for the company, which has seen franchisees open new offices in Derby, Swansea and Walsall this year. In addition, the company announced the appointment of new franchisees in Bournemouth, Slough and Wakefield. Founded in 1983 by Mark Lawn and John Bussey, Driver Hire provides temporary drivers and logistics staff to short-staffed local businesses. Driver Hire offers new franchises from £30,000, with re-sales of existing franchises costing £40,000 to £50,000. The company provides training, IT infrastructure and marketing to its franchisees. Tony Goacher, network development director for Driver Hire, said: “Our network as a whole finished 2012/13 with a flourish and we’ve maintained that momentum during the early weeks of the new financial year, which is great news for all our franchisees. “The driver recruitment market is worth an estimated £2bn annually. On-line shopping is feeding demand for ‘final mile’ delivery drivers. Meanwhile economic uncertainty means many businesses are using temporary labour to create a flexible workforce. Add to that Driver Hire’s thirty years of success and our proven franchise model and it’s easy to see why a Driver Hire franchise is such an attractive proposition.”
