21. EDF

Europe’s 25 Corporate Startup Stars winner provides a collaborative way of creating new products and services

With a dedicated team of 20 people sourcing start-up collaborations in Europe, Asia and North America, energy company EDF offers young companies mentoring, resources, exposure, marketing support, and more.

A key part of this is EDF Pulse Awards, an innovative competition with a €300,000 prize, open to European start-ups working in the following areas: ‘smart home’, ‘low carbon city’ and ‘e-health’.

EDF invests in and benefits from the work of start-ups, while helping them to gain greater visibility. For example, 2014 EDF Pulse winner, Echy, created a product that enables the sun to light a windowless room – something that EDF is supporting in 2016.
