Elavon launches online payment gateway for small and medium businesses

Merchant services provider partners with Realex Payments to offer new ‘ecommerce solution’

Global payments processor Elavon has joined with gateway provider Realex Payments to launch a new online payment gateway specifically targeted at small and medium-sized businesses.

The new service offers users full integration with websites and ecommerce platforms and the payments specialists claim it will make accepting online payments easier for smaller firms; reducing costs and enabling “ease of use”.

The gateway is said to resolve issues with current platforms available on the market, as through the agreement with Realex only one company is required for set up, whereas other systems commonly require a gateway provider and a contract with a payment processor in order to receive payments online.

A range of other benefits are also advertised with the gateway such as local risk management in the event of a breach of security, recurring billing functionality and technology that allows businesses to encrypt and store customer card information for repeat purchases.

Marianne Johnson, EVP and head of product and innovation for Elavon, discussed its new offering:

“The ability to offer a single point of contact for both acquiring and gateway services […] results in a win-win for our customers and means they have one less business relationship to manage.”

Founder and CEO of Realex Payments Colm Lyon added:  “Having more than 13 years’ experience helping companies sell online, we are perfectly positioned to pass on our expertise to Elavon Online Gateway customers, helping them to grow and expand their online businesses.”
