Entries now open for Startups 100 2016 index

Search is on to find UK's top 100 best and brightest start-up businesses for annual list which boasts alumni companies such as Purplebricks and YPlan

Returning for its seventh year, applications are now open for Startups.co.uk’s prestigious Startups 100 2016 – the annual index celebrating the most exciting, innovative start-ups businesses in the UK today.

Launched in 2008, the Startups 100 is the definitive countdown of the UK’s hottest early stage start-ups with the ability to demonstrate considerable success or potential for fast-growth.

As the first ranked index of its kind, Startups 100 has recognised and championed some of the best UK businesses with an alumni of exceptional, and now household names, such as YPlan, Naked Wines, Zoopla and notonthehighstreet.com.

The 2015 index uncovered a number of start-up success stories from 24/7 online estate agency Purplebricks (which recently floated on AIM), to car comparison site carwow, and student accommodation marketplace Uniplaces. The 2016 list will look to discover a similarly outstanding group of emerging businesses.

To be considered for the list, businesses must be UK-based, privately owned and launched on, or after, January 1 2013. Businesses must be original in some way, or taking on an established market with a new or pioneering approach.

Lucy Wayment, editor of Startups.co.uk. commented:

“Startups 100 was launched to acknowledge the remarkable achievements and painstaking hard work of Britain’s young businesses with last year’s index having showcased originality, growth potential and impressive market traction from an array of innovative start-ups.

“We’re excited at the prospect of a similarly outstanding group of fledgling businesses making it into this year’s ranking. Within that, we know we’ll find some companies destined to become household names.

“We just need to hear from you. So, has your start-up got what it takes?”
