Fashion start-ups get support

Participants to receive one-on-one mentoring

A new programme aimed at helping fashion industry start-ups take their first steps down the business catwalk has been launched.

Business Express will offer support and guidance to young fashion designers in the areas of marketing, business planning, raising finance, retail and product development.

Participants will meet with experts for a series of one-on-one mentoring sessions, then will be immersed in activity within the key sectors for an introduction into how to launch and develop a successful business.

The programme’s first beneficiary is Yong Fong, a past recipient of fashion design awards.

Fong is currently a joint designer at Ghost and has worked as a freelance designer at Topshop since 2003. He hopes to use the sessions to build his own fashion label.

American Express will inaugurate the programme later this month.
