Federation of Small Businesses to help members source commercial cars and vans

New online Vehicle Service will also offer advice on managing business vehicles with help from fleet “experts”

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has announced a new online service to help its 200,000 members source and manage commercial vehicles.

Launched in partnership with vehicle leasing provider Arval,  FSB Vehicle Services will look to help business owners without expertise in fleet services to “accurately assess their needs”.

Alongside advice and a 24/7 telelphone helpline,  the portal will also offer access to online calculators to analyse vehicle performance, emissions and tax.

The announcement follows Arval’s recent annual study which found that a fifth of small firms expect to see demand for commercial vehicles rise in 2015 and say they will keep and use their vehicles for longer.

FSB Member Services chairman, Carol Undy, said of the new service: “Most businesses rely on their vehicles to keep employees and goods mobile. Without their cars and vans they simply couldn’t operate.

“Very few small and medium enterprises in the UK currently have access to experienced fleet management expertise and most don’t even consider their vehicles a ‘fleet’. As this isn’t a core area for the business, it can be hard to access impartial advice through traditional providers – even if they know who those are.”
