Inspiring female-founded businesses of 2017: no+mi London
The ‘bump+beyond’ platform, offering bespoke and curated gifts for expecting and new mothers
Founders: Noemie Achache and Millen Wolde-Selassie
Launched: June 2016
As a recent mum myself, no+mi’s sentiment that ‘future mamas deserve a treat’ is one I can most definitely get behind.
The platform, launched by female entrepreneurs Noemie Achache and Millen Wolde-Selassie, curates gift sets specifically designed for expectant and new mothers.
Ranging from individual items such as baby changing bags and face cleansers to bespoke gift boxes that can be tailored to an individual, the duo wanted to create an offering with design at its core – that really had women as its focus.
With added touches like the functionality to ‘split the bill’ among friends, and same day deliveries in London throughout December to alleviate Christmas shopping chaos, the site wants to become your go-to for expectant mothers, for all the right reasons.
Working with brands that are both well-known and independent and up-and-coming, the key USP is that they will only list products that they “truly believe in” and that prove to be ethical and environmentally conscious, while upholding impeccable standards.
Launched halfway through 2017, while it’s still early days for the start-up, it’s been a busy few months, including testing products face-to-face at Christmas markets, shipping out over 150 orders and securing a listing on Notonthehighstreet – a coup for any bespoke gift brand.
While the business is bootstrapped to-date, Achache and Wolde-Selassie’s ambitions are by no means modest.
Wanting to become “synonymous with pregnancy” and with hopes to build a strong and diverse team and focus on additional customer bases outside of London, the next 12 months look set to be bright for this burgeoning ‘bumps+beyond’ brand.
