Fintech start-up Curve gets backing from TransferWise and Betfair founders

London-based company will use $2m seed funding to launch "next generation" payments service out of beta in 2016

Pre-launch financial technology (fintech) start-up Curve has secured $2m seed funding in a round backed by a number of high-profile investors including TransferWise co-founder Taavet Hinrikus and Betfair co-founder Ed Wray.

Start-up accelerator Seedcamp, the Mayor of London’s Co-Investment Fund, Bank Tandem’s Ricky Knox and former Google Wallet employees also participated in the round.

While Curve has kept it’s offering fairly private – it’s currently in closed beta – it promises to provide the “next generation of payments after the trusted bank card” and will “reimagine the card”.

It will use the investment to launch out of beta in early 2016.
