Venture capital seed fund which is part of Young Gun Neil Hutchinson’s Forward Internet Group. It formed in 2013 as a merger between Forward Investment Partners and Forward Labs. Prominent venture capitalist Nic Brisbourne is managing partner.
One of Forward Internet Group’s investment vehicles alongside Forward Private Equity, Forward Partners invests in early-stage e-commerce companies from inception to post launch with idea stage and seed stage funding. It has backed approximately 20 businesses to date including Startups 100-listed Zopa, Appear Here and Hailo. Part fund, part incubator, Forward Partners also provides investee companies with a years’ access to office space at its Old Street headquarters. It looks for “great entrepreneurs with great ideas” that will use backing to maximise growth.
Size of fund:
In March 2015 Forward Partners invested £250,000 in cosmetic treatment company RightClinic – a “victory” for the start-up after it was previously turned down for investment on BBC TV show Dragons’ Den. An online portal where users can compare and book cosmetic procedures and eye surgery, RightClinic has facilitated over £1.2m worth of bookings to date. Brisbourne said the business had “potential”.
